Abekawa mochi
This region of Shizuoka was a part of the Tokaido route back in the Edo days. The mocha from Edokawa was the cream of the crop, so to speak, truly the best of the best. So much gold was found in the area that the famous shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu used this region for mining. The mocha from this area is made to look like gold, and enter, kinako powder. The slightly bitter-sweet powder makes the mochi a snack that should not be missed.
